PROJECTS PROJECTS AFRICA From very early on, the continent has played a special role and had great impact on Daniel’s photography. He has worked with NGOs in eleven African countries focusing on humanitarian photography. He has covered humanitarian crises in Burundi, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Eritrea and others. In 2014 he spent an extended period of time documenting refugee camps and the aftermath of the civil war along the Eastern border / Kivu area of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Clients include Unicef, Unesco, Care, World Vision and World Hunger Relief. His works have been published in several books, magazines and newspapers and have been exhibited across Germany. In September 2014 he has covered the furious outbreak of Ebola in Liberia. His works have been featured multiple times in BILD (Germany) including the nationwide front page. EASTERN EUROPE In February 2014 Daniel covered the uprising in Kiev, Ukraine and the following Crimea crisis in March 2014 with publications in TIME Magazine (US), The Guardian (UK), NBC (US) and Expressen (Sweden). MIDDLE EAST In June 2013 he was on assignment in Istanbul, Turkey to cover the riots around Gezi Park and Taksim Square. He couldn’t help but admire the courage and resilience of the citizens of Istanbul. His works have been exhibited in Venice, Italy during the 2013 Biennale and in Potsdam, Germany. In August 2013 Daniel also covered the turmoil in Egypt. In July 2014 Daniel travelled to Gaza to cover the war between Israel and Hamas, focussing on civilian casualties during the conflict. His works have been published in Stern Magazine (GER), The Guardian (UK) and The Irish Times (IE). SOUTH AMERICA Two years after the 2010 Chile earthquake, Daniel went to Concepción to cover the aftermath that was still widely visible and to raise funds for a school for blind children run by the Christian Blind Mission. Photographing these blind children was one of the most memorable and intense experiences in Daniel’s professional career. In 2014 Daniel went to Guatemala to document illegal child labor on coffee plantations across the country. Also in 2014 Daniel spent almost a month in May in Colombia covering the ongoing war on cocaine. UNITED STATES Daniel has traveled most of the United States - and a large part of it by car. He has always been intrigued by those forgotten highways between the two coasts and spent weeks shooting abandoned cities and farmhouses for his reportage "The Forgotten America". When he lived in San Francisco, Daniel worked on high-key and street photography featuring everyday life of Californians.
